Tottenham: Journalist drops potential Eriksen hint %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%

Reliable Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti, as quoted by Sempre Inter, says Christian Eriksen is disillusioned at Inter Milan and it could be a ‘serious case’, with Tottenham reportedly eyeing a swoop for their former playmaker.

Eriksen, who left north London for the San Siro in January, has struggled to replicate his Premier League form for the Nerazzurri, with Football Insider reporting that he was offered to several Premier League clubs including Spurs on deadline day earlier this month.

Eriksen on the way out?

Fabrizio Romano also claimed that Tottenham are contemplating taking him back, with Sconcerti now slamming Eriksen’s most recent performance and potentially hinting his future at Inter is now a ‘serious case’.

Bearing that in mind, Eriksen is looking more likely than ever to leave, with a return to England not being ruled out by various reports in the press.

Tottenham secured the sensational return of Gareth Bale last month, putting pen to paper on a season-long loan deal following the Welshman’s dissatisfaction with life at Real Madrid.

As per this inside take on Eriksen at Inter Milan, Sconcerti believes the case with him is a serious one – and Spurs could take the opportunity to swoop for another of their former players in January.

Transfer Tavern take

Claiming that the 28-year-old ‘doesn’t seem to care’, the Denmark midfielder could be seeking a move away judging by the journalist’s take on Eriksen, but it remains to be seen whether Tottenham go through with a future swoop.

If Spurs manage to re-sign the playmaker, it could be just as noteworthy as the Bale signing.

Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs set to sanction transfer for Kyle Walker-Peters

Southampton are ready to steal a march on their Premier League rivals by signing Kyle Walker-Peters from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Walker-Peters, 23, has made a huge impact at St Mary’s, playing in every single minute of Southampton’s last four games, helping the Saints beat Watford and Manchester City while drawing with Everton and Manchester United.

According to The Sun, as per @thespursweb, Tottenham are trying to flog Walker-Peters for £10m to raise some much-needed funds.

Ralph Hasenhuttl wants to wrap up a deal as quickly as possible, amid interest from several teams in the top flight.

Spurs are set to sanction a transfer for the youngster, as Jose Mourinho has ruled out any chances of the academy product returning to north London in the summer.

Walker-Peters didn’t do himself any favours after appearing to take a pot-shot at the Portuguese in an interview with the Saints’ official website.

The Lilywhites lack cover for Serge Aurier but Mourinho has decided to look elsewhere.

Daniel Levy has made it clear he will not be spending “rivers of money” in the summer, meaning Mourinho will mostly have to resort to sorting out swap deals, signing free agents and hunting for bargains in the transfer market.

Walker-Peters has been in sensational form for the Saints but finds the way back to his parent club shut.

The Portuguese has identified Southampton’s former captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as his top priority this summer, and he could use the funds raised to cover some of the costs.

However, it is worth pointing out Hojbjerg won’t come cheap, as he will cost up to £35m, via The Times.

Tottenham fans, do you think Daniel Levy should let Kyle Walker-Peters leave? Let us know down below!

Rangers fans rave about Filip Helander’s commanding display

After arriving from Bologna last summer for a reported fee of around £3.5m, Filip Helander’s debut season at Rangers struggled to really get going after a foot injury sustained in late 2019 cut his campaign short.

He made just 18 appearances across all competitions, with only eight of them coming in the Scottish Premiership. This season saw him start off the campaign on the bench, before making the starting line-up for the clash against Livingston.

And on Saturday evening against Hamilton, the Sweden international looked imperious at the back, dealing with everything that came his way, including an elbow to the face.

As per Sofascore, his 7.9 match rating was the joint-highest of any player on the pitch, boasting a 91% pass accuracy, making four tackles, and winning a mammoth 18 duels.

Some Rangers fans raved about Helander’s reading of the game in particular, with one supporter saying that whilst he may not have the pace, his defensive awareness more than makes up for it.

With three clean sheets in a row since he came into the starting line-up, it’s difficult for Steven Gerrard to now leave out Helander when picking his team.

The Swede has looked assured at the back alongside Connor Goldson, and with Rangers sitting pretty at the top of the table, Gerrard will surely not want to tinker any more with a winning side.

Windsor Park

Key Information about Windsor Park

Windsor Park is the home football stadium of Northern Ireland’s national football team, as well as Linfield FC who are a semi-professional football club based in Belfast. The national ground also hosts the yearly Irish Cup final in front of a maximum 18,614 all-seater capacity.

Windsor Park was built in 1903, and officially opened two years later, with three major renovations taking place in the 1930s, 1996 and more recently in 2015. Windsor Park was named after the district in south Belfast in which it is located.

A history of Windsor Park

Windsor Park first opened back in 1905, as it hosted a match between Linfield and Glentoran. The first major works on the ground began during the 1930s. Renowned Scottish architect Archibald Leitch, designed the first redevelopment of the stadium by erecting the Grandstand (South Stand) with terracing in front. In addition to this, a large open terrace behind the west goal was built (Spion Kop), and to the north and Railway End there were another two covered terraces.

In the early 1906s, the seated Railway Stand was built at the Railway End, followed by a social club and viewing lounge, somewhat ten later. During the 1980s, a two-tier terrace was built in place of the unreserved terrace of the North Stand, and featured 7000-seats. In 1996, the Kop terrace was demolished and replaced with a 5000-seater Kop Stand.

In September 2009, the Irish Football Association announced that its preferred option was to remain at redeveloped Windsor Park, rather than to move to a brand new multi-purpose stadium due to the increasingly poor conditions of the ground. Two years later, the Northern Ireland Executive allocated £138m for major redevelopments of stadiums around Northern Ireland, with £28m of this allocated solely to the redevelopment of Windsor Park, which in turn would see it become a 20,000 capacity all-seater stadium.

In 2012, plans of Windsor Park’s redevelopment were released, and the stadium was to become an 18,000 all-seater ground rather than the previously proposed 20,000. Planning permission for the redevelopment was granted in early 2013, and after a year of legal issues, work finally commenced in May 2014.

Windsor Park was reopened in time for Northern Ireland’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against San Marino in October 2016, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino unveiled a plaque to mark the reopening of the new stadium on the night. Concerts can also be held at Windsor Park in front of an increased capacity of 22,000.

Tickets to Watch Northern Ireland at Windsor Park

General admission tickets for Northern Ireland’s UEFA Nations League matches at Windsor Park were priced between £40-50, with under-16s costing £16. The IFA also offers a range of hospitality packages from around £100-180. During the Euro 2020 qualifiers, the IFA offered an official Northern Ireland membership scheme for £20.

Bukayo Saka is Arsenal’s big money saver this summer

The 2019/20 season has been far from perfect for Arsenal.

Three managers, an early Europa League exit and sitting barely in the top ten makes finding any positives a hard job for anyone. However, one of the stand out players for the Gunners this campaign has been 18-year-old Bukayo Saka.

The England Youth International has had an amazing breakthrough campaign, featuring in all four competitions both as a winger and a full back.

Despite Unai Emery giving him his debut, it has been under Mikel Arteta where Saka has really shone.

In a way, he was thrown in the deep end, being deployed in an unnatural left wing-back position, owing to the long-term injuries of Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney.

However, Saka has shown unbelievable confidence in adapting to his new position, which is in part thanks to Arteta’s system of play.

The former Manchester City number two likes to start with four at the back, which develops into a three, allowing the full-backs to play as inverted wingers.

This, of course, takes the burden of learning to be a natural full-back away from Saka, so he can play further up the pitch, but at the same time he has worked extremely hard for the team both in attack and defence. But where Saka has caught people’s attention has been in his contribution to goals.

In his 29 appearances for the first team this season, Saka has scored three goals and made nine assists, which is more than any other Arsenal player.

These numbers are certainly impressive, especially considering he has been playing out of his natural position most of the time.

Saka has confidence in abundance, a trait that flows through the team when he is at his best, always looking to take on opposition players in one-on-ones and linking cleverly with his teammates.

Gabriel Martinelli is another youngster having a superb season and has not only formed a potential new bromance with Saka, but created a deadly partnership whenever they play together in attack.

Arteta has shown a lot of faith in his younger players, seeing them as first-team regulars now rather than laterm not only because of talent, but also because it will save the club a lot of money in future transfer windows.

The Hale End Academy has been producing some exciting young players of late and Arteta is reaping the rewards for trusting in it, including Saka, who is a graduate of the academy.

While question marks remain over a number of first-team players’ futures and a reportedly low transfer budget in the summer, Arteta would do well to trust Saka to make the step up as a regular.

A player who has buckets of talent, great adaptability and vast potential, Saka could be the ultimate money saver for Arteta’s side, as they look to rebuild and get back into the Champions League.

Spurs fans react to Patrik Schick transfer report

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to reports linking them with a move for a forward they know all too well.

According to LaRoma24, Spurs are prepared to negotiate with Serie A outfit Roma for the transfer of Patrik Schick, who has been impressing out on loan with RB Leipzig this campaign.

Should the German side fail to take up their €29m option-to-buy, then Daniel Levy could be free to swoop in for the 24-year-old.

Schick was part of the squad that beat Spurs in the Champions League Round of 16 back in March, starting both legs, although he failed to get his name on the scoresheet.

He has, however, found the net seven times from 19 appearances in all competitions this season, which includes strikes against Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen.

The 6 foot 1 centre-forward has also picked up 22 caps with his national side, the Czech Republic.

Several members of the Spurs faithful would like to see Schick make the switch to the Premier League whilst others had their doubts given Levy’s infamous transfer history.

Paul Robinson slams Everton’s Moise Kean over disciplinary issue

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers…

Paul Robinson has slammed Moise Kean following recent reports that he was dropped from the Everton squad due to disciplinary issues.

What did he say?

Kean has endured a torrid time at Everton since he swapped Turin for Merseyside for £25.1m in August. The forward has not been able to score for his new side and has barely looked like doing so, averaging just one shot per game in the Premier League.

Now, things seem to be going from bad to worse for the Italian.

It was reported last week that Kean was dropped from the matchday squad as a result of him being late to a team meeting for the second time this season.

Robinson told Football Insider: “There’s obviously enough disrespect and enough reason to leave him out the squad. I’ve questioned why he’s not been playing him, he’s a very good player, they’ve been struggling to score goals and they haven’t got a number nine who scores frequently.

“Now we know and the attitude towards a manager and your own teammates is first and foremost. Fair play to Marco Silva for taking that stance. He’s 19 and he’s come to a new country and a new club so there’s warning lights flashing straight away.

“An attitude problem, with all those things taken into consideration, it’s not acceptable. He should be busting his gut to get into the team, to prove himself, to score goals and to do what he’s been brought for.

“I’ve been one of his biggest advocates but his attitude and application off the pitch, as the manager feels isn’t right and isn’t good enough or doesn’t warrant a place in the team, which is fair enough.”

Time running out

In truth, it looks like the Italian could be ruining his Premier League career before it has even properly got going.

Kean has not been able to prove himself on the pitch, so he should be doing absolutely everything he can off it to make a name for himself.

If his poor performances continue on the pitch and his attitude does not improve at Everton, Marco Silva may have not a choice but to let him go.

It seems the 19-year-old needs a serious talking to if he is to transform his fortunes on Merseyside.

Sunderland fans reflect on "beautiful" footage of Fabio Borini’s cup final goal

Loads of Sunderland fans have been responding to a clip of Fabio Borini, after the former Black Cats star turned 29 on Sunday.

You won’t find many players more popular on Wearside over the last few years than Borini. Whether it be Lee Camp or Papy Djilobodji, the club have had their fair share of flops and controversies in recent campaigns, but Borini’s short stint in red and white etched his name into cult hero status.

Indeed, the Verona forward checked all the boxes for fan favouritism, scoring against Newcastle three times, bagging goals against Chelsea and Manchester United on route to a cup final, and most importantly scoring a memorable goal in that cup final, which fans have been reflecting on over the weekend, hailing the strike against Manchester City as “absolutely unbelievable” and “beautiful”.

If you’re wondering how he’s been getting on since leaving the Stadium of Light, he bagged just eight goals in 75 appearances for Milan before joining Verona in January, but was ranked as Europe’s best player in the final 15 minutes of matches back in March, via Whoscored.

The Italian has quickly become one of the most versatile players in world football, having now played in as many as ten different positions, per Transfermarkt, including left-back and central midfield.

Where is he from?! Can you name which obscure countries these famous players have represented?

While his career has moved on though, some fans are still hurting from that 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Others simply commented on Borini’s time at the club in general, with one supporter “mind blown” by the fact the forward is only 29.

This is perhaps due to the sheer amount that has happened to the club since the Serie A man left, with consecutive relegations, multiple managers and an ownership battle enough to form a Netflix series out of.

Another fan commented on the memorable goals he scored for the club, and they are absolutely correct. Borini struck four times against Chelsea, three against Newcastle and two against each of the big Manchester sides, per Transfermarkt.

Tottenham fans are not buying Lucas Moura’s latest comments

Lucas Moura has claimed that no player at Tottenham Hotspur has actively said that they want to leave the club but the fans are just not buying it.

Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen will all see their contracts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expire next summer.

Eriksen is reportedly determined to leave in January, and the Denmark international has not exactly shown his best form this season – scoring just one goal in 12 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in all competitions.

Lucas has told ESPN Brasil that the atmosphere inside the dressing room is strong, while the attacker has also insisted that no player has expressed a desire to leave the club.

The Brazilian’s words, though, have been doubted by the Spurs fans on social media.

It is difficult to know exactly what is happening behind-the-scenes at the club, but the opinion of the Tottenham supporters on this particular subject is fairly clear.
