Por meio de seu perfil no Twitter, o presidente da MRV, Rafael Menin, comunicou que o processo de escolha da empresa de engenharia que assumirá a obra da Arena do Galo está perto do fim. A expectativa é de que o contrato com a construtora seja assinado ainda em março.

– Terminamos hoje (quarta-feira) mais um etapa que antecede o início das obras da Arena MRV. Realizamos um workshop com as três construtoras participantes do processo competitivo da construção da Arena MRV, chegando assim na reta final desta etapa. A assinatura do contrato deve ocorrer neste mês – publicou Rafael Menin.

Parceira do Atlético-MG, a MRV tem grande participação na construção do estádio que levará seu nome. O terreno onde será erguido a Arena, o bairro Califórnia, em Belo Horizonte, foi doado pela família Menin. Rafael, presidente do grupo, é um dos responsáveis pelo processo de escolha das empresas que estarão envolvidas na construção do estádio.

O projeto da Arena MRV foi aprovado pelo Conselho Deliberativo do Galo em setembro de 2017. Dos 389 conselheiros que participaram da votação, 325 foram a favor e 12 contra. Sendo assim, a maioria concordou com a proposta de venda de 50,15 do Diamond Mall para a Multiplan, pelo valor de R$ 250 milhões, que serão destinados a construção do estádio onde serão investidos R$ 410 milhões.

O resto do montante será dividido entre investidores de forma que R$ 60 milhões sejam pelos naming rights comprados pela MRV e R$ 100 milhões adquiridos com a venda de cadeiras cativas, sendo que 60% deste valor já foi acertado em negociação com o Banco de Minas Gerais (BMG).

Ainda é necessário que a Câmara Municipal de Belo Horizonte aprove o projeto para que as obras sejam iniciadas. O documento foi enviado à prefeitura e o pensamento é otimista, já que os vereadores são favoráveis a construção da “casa” do Atlético. Com capacidade elevada para 47 mil lugares, a Arena MRV será o 10º maior estádio do Brasil neste quesito, de acordo com apontamento do Superesportes.

City Xtra shared the news following Guardiola’s pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, revealing: “John Stones is ruled out vs Leeds due to injury, confirms Pep Guardiola.”

Kyle Walker will also miss the game, as the manager hinted he may not return this season.

The Verdict: A hammer blow

Stones being unavailable for selection will come as a huge blow for the Spanish manager, who will need all of the backline experience accessible to him with Walker also missing, should City want to get their hands on the Premier League trophy at the end of the season.

The Big PictureThis is the series for lesser-known players to make a name for themselves and grab a permanent spot in the one-day team, that is, if the weather would allow them. The first ODI was washed out and it’s very humid in Visakhapatnam, but showers have only been forecast for Thursday, the day after the match. If the dark clouds can stay away on the match day, however, youngsters like R Ashwin, Mitchell Starc and Ravindra Jadeja will breathe easy.The continuing presence of Jadeja in the playing XI has baffled many an Indian fan. Here are his stats: A bowling average of 41.55 and a batting average of 31.47 at a strike rate of 76.97. He hasn’t sparkled with the bat or the ball with any consistency; the best (only?) thing going for him is his economy rate in ODIs: 4.84. MS Dhoni has pointed out what he thinks Jadeja should do: “For a player like him, it is very important to contribute with the bat and ball. He has to do a bit more with the bat.”His bowling has increasingly been backed by his captain: he has bowled his full quota of 10 overs nine times and seven of those occasions have come in 2010. His direct competition until recently was Yusuf Pathan: Yusuf’s strike rate is over 100 but he averages just 22.11. His bowling average is 40.66, slightly better than Jadeja, but his economy rate of 5.75 is almost a run higher.Is R Ashwin the man, then, to replace Jadeja? Ashwin is a much better bowler than Jadeja, and has a lower economy rate when you compare their performances in domestic circuit. Conor Gallagher’s efforts for Crystal Palace this season have been enough to convince a pundit that he would be an ideal signing for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

What’s the word?

Ideal fit

Conor Gallagher’s future is uncertain. Though, what is certain is his impact at Crystal Palace this season.

With eight goals and three assists in 29 Premier League appearances for Vieira’s side, he has attracted the attention of the entire league.

It remains unclear as to whether we will see Gallagher return to parent club Chelsea or remain at Selhurst Park next term, though what we do know is that Austin has a point. Gallagher would be an ideal fit in this current Liverpool regime under Klopp.

Whilst Gallagher, who has been described as “outrageous” by Palace podcaster Dan Cook, has proven himself as a quality attacking option from midfield, with his box-to-box approach making him a sure-fire success in Klopp’s high-tempo set-up.

Though, it’s his average of 26 pressures per 90 that would make him a viable option at Anfield, with his number of pressures throughout the attacking and midfield third exceptional.

His goal-creating actions average of 0.40 underlines his attacking threat, whilst his average of four progressive passes received per game demonstrates his comfortability in taking up progressive positions in the opponent’s final third.

With his versatility and ability to perform in both the attacking and defensive aspects of the game, Gallagher could offer Liverpool their closest resemblance to living legend Steven Gerrard, in what would surely be a great move for all involved.

Gerrard was famed for scoring goals from midfield, and that’s precisely what the Eagles loanee could bring to Anfield too, with his infectious personality serving as another resemblance of the Liverpool hero.

The £50m-valued gem could shine under Klopp, and could genuinely become a world-class player at Anfield. The Reds’ system and regime on and off the ball conforms to Gallagher’s style as a midfielder.
