But after two Perth defeats in 2008 – India won in January – Ricky Ponting is bemoaning the loss of the venue’s famous bounce and pace. “I’m disappointed because the uniqueness of the WACA that it once had, that we keep hearing about every year, it appears it’s always there for the state games but it’s just not there for Test matches, which I think is disappointing,” Ponting said. “Brisbane and Perth are the places that offer a bit of uniqueness in Australia. I think Brisbane still has that and I think the WACA is losing that very quickly.”

Um pênalti do zagueiro Alex, nos últimos minutos, e não marcado por Carlos Eugênio Simon – considerado um dos maiores erros da carreira do então árbitro Fifa – não foi esquecido pelos torcedores do Galo. Ironia do destino, os botafoguenses também não esquecem de Ana Paula Oliveira, auxiliar que anulou dois gols do Glorioso sobre o Figueirense na semifinal. Aquela vitória por 3 a 1 não foi suficiente para a equipe passar à final.

Tottenham Hotspur have made a £130,000-per-week offer to Franck Kessie as his contract at AC Milan coming to an end, claim reports in Italy.

The Lowdown: High demand midfielder

Kessie’s contract at the Italian side runs out next summer and it has previously been reported that the Ivory Coast has rejected fresh proposals about remaining at the club.

The midfielder is in high demand after notching an incredible  14 goals from midfield last season, with Spurs rumoured to be competing with Liverpool for his services.

After moving to Milan from Atalanta in 2017, Kessie has drastically improved his all-round game and now could make a move to the Premier League.

The Latest: Paratici already making moves

As per CalcioMercato, Fabio Paratici and co have tabled a £130,000-a-week contract offer to sign the midfielder when his contract runs to an end.

The 25-year-old has reportedly rejected an offer from his current employers to stay at the club, with the deal being worth £82,000-a-week, but increasing in the fourth and fifth years.

With Spurs offering more for Kessie, a move to the Premier League could well be on the cards for the midfielder and the report states Tottenham are looking more and more likely.

The Verdict: Big signing

Spurs’ midfield isn’t the strongest area of their squad, with the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Winks struggling to make their way into Nuno Espirito Santo’s side since the Portuguese’s arrival.

Kessie, who has been praised and labelled as an irreplaceable leader by Milan icon by Massimo Ambrosini, will have the Champions League to showcase his talent, starting on Wednesday against Liverpool. Any positive performances will skyrocket his portfolio and more clubs could come in for him.

Hailed as ‘extraordinary’ by ESPN Serie A pundit Nicky Bandini, he would improve Spurs’ squad massively and take the club to the next level and potentially help them win their first trophy in 13 years.

أفادت تقارير صحفية أن نادي ليفربول يرغب في التعاقد مع أحد لاعبي ستاد رين الفرنسي في نافذة الانتقالات الصيفية.

ليفربول هذا الصيف تعاقد مع فابيو كارفاليو، داروين نونيز، كالفين رامزي، وأكد الألماني يورجن كلوب، المدير الفني للريدز، أن فريقه لن يقوم بأي تعاقدات أخرى هذا الصيف.

ومع ذلك ذكرت صحيفة “ميرور” البريطانية في تقرير لها أن ليفربول يبحث عن بديل لمهاجمه البرازيلي روبرتو فيرمينو.

فيرمينو عقده ينتهي مع ليفربول بعد 11 شهرًا، في 30 يونيو 2023، ويبدو أنه لن يمدد بقاءه داخل “آنفيلد” لفترة أطول مع تخطيه حاجز الـ31 عامًا.

وقالت الصحيفة إن ليفربول يدرس إمكانية التعاقد مع المهاجم الفرنسي مارتن تيريه لاعب ستاد رين.

وأوضحت الصحيفة أن اهتمام وصيف الدوري الإنجليزي بالتعاقد مع المهاجم صاحب الـ”25″ عامًا، يأتي بعد طلب من مدرب الفريق يورجن كلوب.

تيريه في الموسم الماضي مع رين سجل 21 هدفًا، وقدم 3 تمريرات حاسمة، وساعد رين في حصد المركز الرابع بالدوري الفرنسي.

ولم يوضح التقرير ما إذا كان ليفربول سوف يتحرك للتعاقد مع تيريه هذا الصيف أم الصيف القادم، ولكن النادي مُنتبه له، ويعلم بوجود اهتمام من جانب ليستر سيتي بضمه.

A splendid all-round effort from former New Zealand medium-pacer Ian Butler failed to avoid defeat for defending champions Otago, who fell 49 short replying to Northern Districts’ 238 for 9.Put in on a sluggish Seddon Park pitch, Northern Districts lost wickets regularly, and had lost half their side for 95 in 25.4 overs. BJ Watling’s 28 was the highest score among the top six batsmen. Yovich’s aggression, though, bailed his team out. He smashed six fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 76-ball 78 and ensured Northern Districts played out 50 overs. Aldridge contributed a 39-ball 36 to a 64-run stand for the eighth wicket with Yovich. Butler took 5 for 55 off his ten overs.Otago, who were without captain Craig Cumming, Brendon McCullum and Neil Broom, all away on national duty, never seemed in the hunt during their chase. Aldridge struck twice to reduce Otago to 31 for 3, and although they recovered to 123 for 5 thanks to contributions from Aaron Redmond, Sean Eathorne and Nathan McCullum, the asking-rate continued to escalate. Leicester City’s tricky start to the new Premier League campaign continued after they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion over the weekend.

The Foxes fell behind in the 35th minute as Neal Maupay converted a controversial penalty after Jannik Vestergaard was adjudged to have handled inside the box.

Former Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck then doubled the host’s lead soon after the half-time interval, glancing home a header following a perfectly weighted Leandro Trossard free-kick.

Leicester clawed themselves back into contention on the hour mark, with Jamie Vardy applying a first-time finish to a delightful flowing move, bagging his third goal of the season.

And Brendan Rodgers charges twice thought they had done enough to earn a point late on at the Amex Stadium.

The visitors had the ball in the back of the Brighton net first through Ademola Lookman and then Wilfred Ndidi, but both efforts were ruled out after Harvey Barnes strayed offside.

It meant the Midlands outfit fell to their third defeat in five top-flight fixtures in 2020/21, and it marked a very poor day at the office for one of their summer signings.

As per SofaScore, Ryan Bertrand received a match rating of just 6.3 out of 10, the joint-lowest tally awarded to anyone on the pitch.

The former Southampton left-back failed to win any of his three duels on the south coast, didn’t make a single tackle and lost possession 12 times, leading to Rodgers withdrawing the 32-year-old after just 68 minutes.

It was a bad performance from the left-back, one that badly let his manager, and his teammates, down.

It was another disappointing day at the office for Leicester and the current FA Cup holders will be hoping to turn their fortunes around against Millwall in midweek.

Após 13 rodadas no Campeonato Brasileiro, o Vasco conseguiu vencer pela primeira vez fora de casa. Na noite desta quarta-feira, no Barradão, em Salvador (BA), os comandados golearam o Vitória por 4 a 1. Participação fundamental dos meninos da Colina. Thalles, Paulo Vitor e Guilherme Costa fizeram gols.

Bastante desfalcado – Luis Fabiano e Nenê, por exemplo, não foram para Salvador –, Milton Mendes colocou um Vasco remontado para tentar surpreender o Vitória. O Vasco se impôs, colocando o time ofensivamente na busca do gol. O objetivo de surpreender o Vitória era alcançado. Escudero, de novo como titular, foi importante na primeira chance real da partida. Cobrou escanteio da direita e Rafael Marques aproveitou para acertar o travessão de Fernando Miguel.

A pressão do Vasco seguia aumentando e não demorou muito para o primeiro zero sair do placar. Aos 13, Escudero aproveitou sobra em cobrança de escanteio de Wagner. Mandou para o gol e a bola acabou desviando em Kanu, do Vitória, que não conseguiu evitar o gol contra. Festa cruz-maltina no Barradão.

Depois que estava na frente, um comum erro do Vasco na temporada se repetiu. Milton Mendes acabou recuando demais a equipe, abrindo espaços para que o Vitória crescesse em campo e passasse a levar perigo a Martin Silva. Aos 23 e 31 do primeiro tempo, o goleiro cruz-maltino foi exigido e conseguiu evitar o gol rival.

Este panorama acabou seguindo na etapa final. Autor do gol contra, Kanu se redimiu aos 25 minutos e igualou o marcador para o Vitória diante do Vasco. Precisou isto acontecer para o Cruz-Maltino recuperar o espírito guerreiro que marcou o início da partida em Salvador, voltando a criar na busca da vitória.

Não demorou muito para a vitória ser selada. Aos 29, Thalles aproveitou bom passe de Guilherme Costa (que merece ser titular) e colocou o Vasco novamente na frente. Ainda deu tempo para aos 45 acontecer um golaço. Cria das categorias de base, Paulo Vitor meteu por cima do goleiro. Aos 49, Guilherme Costa fechou o placar. Vitória por 4 a 1 merecida e que deve dar um gás. Deve prestigiar mais os meninos da Colina, Vasco!

A single Twenty20 could also be slotted on the whistle-stop tour.The ICC World Cup Qualifiers get underway on April 1 in South Africa. Apart from giving Namibia a helping hand the Zimbabweans are also looking at exposing their second-string cricketers to increased competitive games in a bid to widen their selection pool.
