Embora tenha ficado satisfeito com a classificação de seu time e com o objetivo atingido, Gabriel fez questão de alertar para os perigos que o Corinthians passou por desperdiçar tantas chances na partida.

– A gente estava controlando, mas chega um momento do jogo em que é mata-mata, em um descuido podemos tomar um gol e ir para os pênaltis. Foi um jogo tenso, mas a equipe controlou a maior parte do jogo, criou chances que deveria ter melhor aproveitado, mas estamos de parabéns pela luta – comemorou.

Gabriel também exaltou a fase pela qual está passando e a felicidade que carrega por jogar no Corinthians, porém não deixou de se cobrar pelos erros individuais.

– Eu fico feliz, estou preparado para tudo, para o que vier na minha carreira. A gente se prepara, luta. Estou vivendo um sonho aqui no Corinthians, procuro melhorar a cada dia, acredito que hoje errei mais passes do que de costume. Me cobro muito para melhorar. Não só eu, mas toda a equipe está de parabéns.

O Corinthians volta a campo nesta quarta-feira, contra o Internacional, às 21h45, em Porto Alegre, pelo confronto da Quarta Fase da Copa do Brasil.

Tottenham Hotspur have reiterated that Harry Kane is not for sale this summer, with key figures behind the scenes confident he’ll remain with Spurs, according to The Athletic. 

The lowdown: Report outlines multi-million pound agreement

Spurs forward Harry Kane has previously voiced his intentions (Sky Sports) to leave the club earlier this summer, although a move anywhere is yet to materialise.

Part of that is largely down to Spurs of course wanting to keep him at the club, as well as Kane being away on international duty with England in the European Championships, so a move is unlikely to have been on his mind recently.

However, Manchester City have been keen admirers of striking a deal to sign Kane, with a fee in the region of £100million being quoted over a potential agreement.

The Sun had recently reported that Daniel Levy had accepted a £160million offer from Pep Guardiola’s side, although it doesn’t seem as though that’s the case just yet.

The latest: Senior Spurs figures confident Kane will stay

The Athletic are reporting on Saturday morning that Spurs have taken a ‘dim view’ of suggestions that an agreement to sell Kane had been reached.

That same report also claims that both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City were taken by surprise on that claim from The Sun, with Spurs reiterating that Kane is not for sale this summer.

The Athletic have also revealed that key figures at Spurs are confident that he’ll stay with the London-based club moving forwards.

The verdict: There will be plenty more twists and turns

There are so many conflicting reports, it’s difficult to know which one to believe.

Kane has revealed his intentions for a new adventure away from Spurs this summer, but Nuno Espírito Santo’s side clearly still value his impact in north London over any sum Manchester City could plausibly stump up.

City are always going to be a tempting offer for any player however, both financially and for the position they’re at in the Premier League.

They’re a team who have really impressed under the management of Pep Guardiola, and Kane could be the missing piece in their jigsaw, as they target Champions League glory in the near future.

With that in mind, it’s hard to rule anything out at this stage, and while it seems unlikely Kane would do something as drastic as to try and force a move from his boyhood club, there will certainly be more twists and turns to come.

Derby County are preparing contracts in order to bring a number of trialists to Pride Park on a permanent basis this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a claim made by Alan Nixon, with The Sun journalist revealing in a post on Twitter that Wayne Rooney’s side are currently in the process of selecting the free agents in training with the Rams that the club are going to offer a contract to.

Nixon continues by stating that the EFL have approved these deals, although the signings nevertheless have to fit certain criteria set by the governing body.

In his tweet, the journalist said: “Derby County. Now selecting the free agents they want to sign. EFL approval but with strings, as usual.”

Music to the ears of fans

With Derby kicking off their Championship campaign against Huddersfield Town in a little over a week’s time, and Rooney currently having just 13 contracted first-team players – two of whom are injured – in his squad, the news that the Rams are finally set to add a number of bodies to their ranks is sure to be music to the ears of fans.

At present, the 35-year-old manager is currently casting his eye over Sam Baldock, Sone Aluko, Ravel Morrison, Phil Jagielka, Andre Wisdom, Richard Stearman, Tom Carroll and Ryan Allsop, with the Rams having been given permission to sign five of these players on free transfers by the EFL.

Rooney has also been informed he can sign four players on loan deals in the summer transfer window, while the possibility of being able to land a further 10 free agents ahead of opening day rests on the HMRC being satisfied Derby have paid off some tax debt – which is expected to be completed this week.

As such, while the Rams are by no means out of the woods just yet regarding their off-field issues, at least the fans look as if they will have some new signings to get excited about in the coming days.
