Many West Ham United fans are eager for the club to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles after it was revealed that Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for the England international.
The Hammers enjoyed a successful campaign last time out as they finished sixth in the Premier League, which means they will be competing in the Europa League next term. However, they are yet to make a new signing during this transfer window, and they will surely not be able to deal with four competitions without strengthening their squad.
Maitland-Niles could well be a good target for the Hammers, who have reportedly been interested in him in recent months. According to Sky Sports, the Gunners are listening to offers for the £14.4m-valued 23-year-old (Transfermarkt), who spent the second half of 2020/21 on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to secure a deal to bring Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu to the club as they aim to complete their first signing under Nuno Espirito Santo.
What’s the story?
According to well-known journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have ma the Italian outfit, although negotiations are still ongoing.
He tweeted: “Tottenham are still working on Takehiro Tomiyasu deal. Opening bid around €18m [add ons included] to Bologna still on the table, price tag around €20/25m. Negotiations ongoing. Tomiyasu wants to join Spurs.”
Italian outlet Tuttosport (as reported by Sport Witness), provided an update on the situation following Romano’s tweet, claiming that the north London outfit must raise their offer by €2m to make it a new total of around €20m (£17.1m), in order to meet Bologna’s valuation.
Nuno will surely be buzzing
Espirito Santo will be looking to make some key additions to his first-team squad this summer after the capital club finished a hugely disappointing 2020/21 campaign in seventh position.
Several stars have been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent weeks, but it’s 22-year-old centre-back Tomiyasu who appears to be the closest to signing on the dotted line.
At first glance, the Japan international appears to be an extremely astute purchase, should chairman Daniel Levy get this deal over the line.
He’s comfortable playing at right-back as well as at the heart of the defence, and his versatility will be a very useful asset, given that Espirito Santo showed at Wolves that he often likes to switch between a back four and a back five.
A current teammate of Tomiyasu’s at Bologna, Mitchell Dijks, lauded the youngster back in 2019 saying: “He is very strong, a real Japanese warrior,” after a string of impressive displays.
Since then, the former Sint-Truiden ace has gone from strength to strength. He made 1.5 tackles per league game last term, 1.7 interceptions and 3.3 clearances, placing him in the top three compared to his teammates for each metric.
Therefore, news that Spurs aren’t far away from agreeing on terms for Tomiyasu with his current club will surely leave Espirito Santo buzzing.
He would be a quality first addition to the Portuguese tactician’s reign, and give him a solid base to build from at Tottenham.

وغرد رومانو عن مستقبل ألونسو، وكتب عبر موقع “تويتر”: “ستكون أولوية ماركوس ألونسو مغادرة الدوري الإنجليزي هذا الصيف”.
وأضاف: “القرار واضح، وهناك ترقب كبير من جانب برشلونة، الذي يضع اسم ألونسو منذ فترة على قائمة صفقات الصيف، وهناك مفاوضات مستمرة”.

Writing on Twitter, American reporter Larry Henry Jr has dropped an exit update involving Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.
The Lowdown: Carter-Vickers on the move?
The USA international has been touted as one of the names to leave this summer as Tottenham aim to adopt a sell-to-buy policy (football.london).
So far, Spurs have only been able to offload Juan Foyth after Villarreal triggered his loan-to-buy option.
Tottenham could want to sell Carter-Vickers this summer with his deal running out in 2022.

He claims that Celtic have been in talks with Tottenham over a possible transfer this summer while Newcastle United and Bournemouth are also ‘back in the mix’.
“It sounds like the Cameron Carter-Vickers race is down to three teams, per a source close to the player.
“Newcastle United, Celtic, and Bournemouth back in the mix. Should be a fun few weeks.
“Newcastle is still in mix, but going over finances. Celtic has been in talks with Tottenham over a transfer too. Bournemouth’s interest quieted but has since picked back up.”
The Verdict: Good news?
This could come as a financial boost for Tottenham if they do in fact aim to offload Carter-Vickers this summer.
The interest in him appears to be heating up from a number of interested parties but what remains to be seen is how much Daniel Levy will want for his services.
Still young, Carter-Vickers also enjoyed a successful stint on loan at Bournemouth over 2020/2021 – where he managed the second most clearances per 90 (3.6) out of the Cherries squad (WhoScored).
We believe Levy and co could command a reasonable fee for his sale this summer, and the income generated by his potential sale could be re-invested in the Spurs first-team squad.
