Toby Alderweireld has confirmed that he expects to stay at Tottenham Hotspur next season, per DH.

The Belgium international has long been linked with a move away from Spurs, having signed a new contract in 2018 that includes a £25m release clause.

Alderweireld has been linked with Manchester United but, speaking in the wake of Belgium’s win over Kazakhstan, he has outlined his intention to remain in north London.

He said: “Yes, yes, I still have a contract. So, I’ll be there.

“After a few weeks of vacation, I’ll have the freshness and the desire to start the season again at Tottenham.”

The central defender made a total of 50 appearances throughout the season and played the entire 90 minutes in the club’s Champions League final defeat to Liverpool in Madrid.

Give him that new deal

Chairman Daniel Levy needs to get straight on the phone to Alderweireld’s agent and ensure that the Belgian commits his future to the club as soon as possible.

There is no excuse, now, with the 30-year-old clearly open to remaining in north London.

He is one of few genuinely world-class central defenders in the Premier League and Spurs cannot afford to lose him for such a negligible fee, especially to a top-six rival.

He is one-half of perhaps the best centre-back pairing Spurs have had in the modern era, along with Jan Vertonghen, and is key to the way Mauricio Pochettino plays.

His distribution from the back is exceptional and he is superb in the tackle too.

Ensuring that he remains at the club is key to Spurs’ future.

The U-21 European Championship is underway and the Young Lions have unfortunately opened the tournament with a defeat to France.

With talk of the Dutch side only looking to bring in some £30m for Ziyech, it would be silly of Liverpool to not make their move if there is a genuine interest in the player.

While Mo Salah and Sadio Mane do of course occupy the positions the Ajax man plays in mainly, you can never have enough attacking options, and we saw at title winners Man City that this can often prove the difference between success and failure.

Liverpool cannot afford to start becoming over-reliant on the likes of Salah and Mane, and if they can move to bring in a player of Ziyech’s quality and potential, then it can only be a positive thing for the club going forward.

Nathaniel Chalobah has had a rocky season with Watford.

Despite his team reaching well above expectations in the Premier League, the 24-year-old English midfielder blew hot and cold throughout the campaign, having struggled with injuries so much over the last couple of seasons.

Injuries, fitness problems and performance issues chained him either to the stands or the bench as he only managed to accumulate nine appearances throughout the year, and his name went missing from the scoresheets altogether.

Still, Chalobah is enjoying his holiday with some of his fellow colleagues and friends, namely Josimar Quintero, a Chelsea youth product, and Domingos Quina, Chalobah’s teammate at Watford.

If his Instagram snap is anything go by, Chalobah and co. are having immense fun before the start of the new season, and both of the players replied to the image.

Quina just posted a series of heart emojis while Quintero did the same and emphasised how funny the depicted situation was.

Chalobah has been a part of Watford’s squad since 2017 when he joined from Chelsea. In 61 appearances so far, he managed five goals.

I want to be part of that.”

United agree personal terms with Ben Yedder

Manchester United have already been busy during this summer’s transfer window, having captured the signatures of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Dan James so far. And it seems they are not going to stop there. In their search for a striker, it has been reported by Spanish outlet La Colina de Nervion that the Red Devils have agreed terms with Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder, although the two clubs are yet to agree on a transfer fee. PSG had reportedly also had an interest in the player, but it seems that United are now in prime position following this development. And the Old Trafford outfit may have even more up their sleeve, with the club also reportedly interested in Aston Villa’s John McGinn.

Arsenal are in advances talks with Brahimi

Arsenal do not have a big transfer budget to work with this summer, which is why they need to be clever during the transfer market and keep their eyes out for bargains. If the latest reports are to be believed, they may have just found one. According to Algerian outfit La Gazette du Fennec, the Gunners are in advanced talks with Yacine Brahimi, who is now a free agent having left FC Porto this summer. Everton, West Ham and OGC Nice are also all interested in him, but after this report, Arsenal appear to have the advantage.
